Youth Leads UK works with disadvantaged and underserved young people from across Greater Manchester and beyond. They immerse them in peer-led media, social action and decision-making projects.
Youth Leads UK is achieving impressive results and supports just over 500 young people every year. Their work is split across three strands: self-empowering potential, skills enrichment and influencing change.
Skills Enrichment - Immersing young people into new and challenging environments enabling them to develop and learn new skills through development programmes and publishing the Youth Leads Magazine.
Self-Empowering Potential - Enabling young people to develop through increased responsibility, opportunities and recognition through: youth-led projects, co-design and pathways to progress into senior roles.
Influencing Change - Helping to influence decision making across society through elevated youth voice opportunities. Working tirelessly to improve perceptions of young people, challenge decision makers and board representation through supporting young people to become Trustees and School Governors, leading the Mayor of Greater Manchester's Youth Civic Leadership Programme and publishing positive stories about young people in Youth Leads Magazine.
“Amplifying the voices of children and young people is central to our work. The success of any country depends on the success of its young people. Over the past year, Youth Leads UK has been proud to work with some incredible young people across Greater Manchester, upskilling them, empowering their potential and helping them influence change.” Chair of the Youth Leads UK Board of Trustees, Saimah Malji
