Growing Together Levenshulme (GTL), known as “the Garden”, has been operating since 2011 as a large, resilient community of asylum seekers and refugees centred around a thriving allotment site in Levenshulme, Manchester. They provide access to a therapeutic green space combined with a comprehensive range of support, to improve mental and physical health, and build skills and community. Members come together from across Greater Manchester to access support, take part in therapeutic gardening and art sessions and create a beautiful, relaxing space to enjoy together. They grow, nurture and harvest crops, which are shared to take home and also used in the weekly communal meal cooked on site by participants.
