People with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) are among the most excluded in society. Because of the lack of truly accessible opportunities, people with PMLD are rarely able to experience live arts and participate in their local community. Our mission is to change that.

Frozen Light is the only company making work for adults of 19+, which is when people with PMLD leave educational settings and cultural opportunities become virtually non-existent. Moreover, we’re the only company in the UK exclusively touring to mainstream venues, enabling PMLD audiences to attend a show no matter where they live.

The Shears Foundation supported our longest ever run at a theatre venue - six days of performances of our sixth touring production, The Bar at The Edge of Time, at The Lowry. This Spring, for one in four audience members The Bar at The Edge of Time was their first experience of live theatre. Carers report coming to a Frozen Light show increases their confidence to bring the people they support to other live arts events.

'It was so special for my son to have this level of attention and interaction and he was enthralled from the very first minute for the entire hour. This was inclusivity in the arts at its best.'
